1.Summary
PDF Hype processes your files entirely inside your browser. Your PDFs and images are never uploaded to, stored on, or seen by our servers.
- We do not require accounts, and we do not ask for your name, email, or payment details to use the tools.
- We do not sell your personal information.
- We may collect limited technical data (like server logs) needed to run and secure the website.
- This summary is a convenience; the full policy below governs.
2.Who we are
PDF Hype (pdfhype.online) is an independent website operated by the sole developer and operator of PDF Hype ("we", "us", "our"). For privacy purposes, we are the data controller of any personal data described in this policy.
You can reach us at [email protected].
3.Your files
All file processing (merging, splitting, rotating, compressing, redacting, watermarking, numbering, converting, etc.) runs locally on your device using browser technologies such as JavaScript, Web Workers, Canvas, and WebAssembly.
- Your files are not uploaded to our servers or to any third-party processing API.
- We cannot access, view, copy, recover, or delete your files, because we never receive them.
- File contents, file names, and the results you generate stay in your browser's memory and are discarded when you close or refresh the tab, unless you choose to download them.
- If we ever add optional local features (for example, temporary storage in your browser's IndexedDB for recovery), that data will stay on your device and you will be able to clear it through your browser.
Because processing happens on your device, you are responsible for the security of that device and for the files you download.
4.Information we may collect
Technical data collected automatically
When you visit the website, our hosting provider and infrastructure may automatically log standard technical information, such as:
- IP address (which may indicate approximate location)
- Browser type and version, device type, and operating system
- Pages requested, referring page, date and time of the request, and response status
This data is used for delivering the site, preventing abuse, debugging, and measuring reliability. It does not include the contents of your files.
Analytics (if enabled)
We may use privacy-respecting analytics to understand which pages and tools are used (for example, page views and general tool usage counts). Analytics do not include file contents or file names. If we use a tool that sets cookies or processes personal data, we will describe it in the Third-party services section and, where required by law, ask for your consent.
Information you send us
If you email us at [email protected] or contact us through a link on our site, we receive the information you choose to send (such as your email address and message). We use it only to respond to you and keep reasonable records. Please do not email us confidential files or sensitive documents.
6.Third-party services
We rely on a small number of third parties to operate the site. They may process technical data (such as your IP address) when you load the site:
- Hosting and CDN provider: serves the website and its static assets and may keep server logs.
- Fonts or other static assets: if served by a third party, your browser contacts that provider directly.
- Analytics provider (if used): collects aggregated usage data.
- Advertising partners (if used): e.g. Google AdSense, which may use cookies to show and measure ads. If we show ads, they will never be based on your files, because we never see them.
These providers have their own privacy policies and act under their own terms. We do not control how they handle data outside of our instructions.
7.How we use information
- To provide, maintain, and secure the website
- To diagnose problems and improve performance and usability
- To understand, in aggregate, how the tools are used
- To respond to your messages
- To detect and prevent abuse, fraud, or security incidents
- To comply with legal obligations
8.Legal bases (EEA / UK users)
Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we rely on the following legal bases:
- Legitimate interests: operating, securing, and improving the website, and responding to enquiries.
- Consent: for non-essential cookies or similar technologies, where required. You can withdraw consent at any time.
- Legal obligation: where we must retain or disclose data by law.
10.Data retention
Server and hosting logs are kept only for as long as needed for security and operations, typically a short period as set by the provider. Emails you send us are kept as long as needed to handle your request and for reasonable record-keeping, then deleted. Files you process are never retained by us.
11.Security
We use HTTPS and standard security practices, and our local-processing design means your files are never exposed to our servers. However, no website or system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. Keep your browser, extensions, and operating system up to date, and avoid processing sensitive files on shared or untrusted devices.
12.Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights over your personal data, including:
- Access to the personal data we hold about you
- Correction of inaccurate data
- Deletion of your data
- Restriction of or objection to certain processing
- Data portability
- Withdrawal of consent at any time
- The right to complain to your local data protection authority (for example, in the EEA/UK, or the Data Protection Board of India under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023)
California and other US state residents may have rights to know, delete, and correct personal information, and to opt out of its sale or sharing. We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioural advertising unless disclosed in an updated policy.
To exercise a right, email [email protected]. We may need to verify your identity, and we will respond within the time required by applicable law. Note that we may not be able to identify you from technical logs alone.
13.International data transfers
Our providers may process data in countries other than your own, including countries with different data protection laws. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses offered by those providers.
14.Children's privacy
PDF Hype is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. Users under 18 should use the site with a parent or guardian's permission. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact [email protected] and we will delete it.
15.External links
Our site links to external sites (for example, our GitHub and Instagram profiles). We are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of other sites. Review their policies before sharing information.
16.Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time, for example when we add features or services. The "Last updated" date at the top shows when it last changed. For material changes, we will make reasonable efforts to notify you on the site. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated policy.
